NASF will have an enlarged program next year. Many new stakeholders will be attending from Europe, North America, Africa and the Far East. These new seminars, together with the FAO initiative, will create an expanded conference platform which will give insights into vital developments forming the future of the industry. Recent developments will make the 7th NASF conference a global event:

The 2012 Conference will be opened March 7th by Norway's Minister of Fisheries, H. E. Lisbeth Berg-Hansen.

New FAO and NASF partnership

FAO Fisheries and Aquaculture Division has joined NASF as seminar partner starting in 2012. FAO's engagement will attract interest from seafood firms and institutions all over the world. This will solidify NASF's position as a leading world seafood, fisheries & aquaculture business arena. More information here.

Focus on Africa at FAO NASF seminar

FAO has also taken another significant initiative. FAO will focus on Africa at NASF 2012. FAO plans to invite top policy makers as well as leading industry players from a number of African nations in Southern and Western Africa where a broad fishing and aquaculture development is taking place.
In 2012 six African countries have been invited by FAO to attend NASF: Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Ghana, Angola and Morocco.

Major arena for EU's new Common Fisheries Policy (CFP) Reform 2012 insights

The opening session of NASF 2012 is dedicated to the EU Common Fisheries Policy Reform (CFP). EU Fishery Commission, DG Mare and Danish Ministry of Fisheries will give the opening speech. This will draw top EU officials, Fisheries Ministries, policy makers and industry stakeholders from all corners of the North Atlantic.

EU CFP Reform - half day industry workshop March 7th

NASF is organizing a half day industry workshop, presenting insights into the new EU fisheries policies. The main theme is “Alignment of market forces for sustainability”. This session is organized by AIPCE, PwC, and key stakeholders in Norway and EU, in cooperation with Ministry of Fisheries in Denmark and EU Fisheries Commission.

1st annual NASF Sustainability & Communications seminar March 8th

A new Sustainability seminar has been organized by NASF jointly with Marine Stewardship Council (MSC). Other contributors include Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC), Det Norske Veritas (DNV) and some commercial players. This is a full day seminar focusing on the main sustainability themes for the Fisheries and Aquaculture value chain. This initiative will attract interest from producers, exporters, importers, distributors, retailers, NGOs and other stakeholders.

Outlook for salmon, white fish and pelagic industries March 7th & 8th

Hear how top experts and company executives evaluate market developments and forecast the outlook for the major Atlantic seafood industry sectors. Bio marine preconference seminar March 6th

For the first time NASF will organise a pre-conference bio marine seminar on March 6th, jointly with Marelife, Sintef, Norway Seafood Federation and a host of other industry players. The seminar will focus on presenting the new bio marine value chain and link seafood and fisheries sectors with the ingredients and pharmaceutical industries. A number of major players from the seafood industry, investors and policy makers will attend. Pick up new trends and perhaps advance information on vital developments to come.
